           A true story

The Morakniv Classic carbon knife with the characteristic barrel-shaped and red-stained birch handle was
first introduced around one hundred years ago with the ambition to portray an exclusive mahogany knife.
In the decades since, it has grown into one of the most beloved lifestyle knives in the world – a timeless
Morakniv in its purest form. Generations of woodcarvers, carpenters and craftsmen have been using,
personalizing and improving the Classic knives ever since.
Like the original knife, the new Morakniv Classic collection also features a shimmering transparent red-
stained birch handle that highlights the wood grain. In other words, each knife is truly unique. The polymer
sheath with a polished look is covered with the Dalecarlian shield and has a belt strap of Swedish vegetable
tanned leather, designed to stand the test of time for generations to come.

The red handle, one of the
        main characteristics of
Morakniv, was at first a way
        to make the knives look
        more exclusive. Originally,
        the more valuable knives
        were made from curly
        birch. But when the curly
        birch became a scarce
        commodity, regular birch
had to be used. And to retain
        the production of exclusive
        knives, the birch handles
        were painted red so that
        they would look just like
        mahogany.
